Association of College and University Educators to Strengthen Teaching and Learning for More Than 250,000 Students Through New National Initiative

NEW YORK, June 27, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) today launched a new national initiative, Fostering a Culture of Belonging: The National Higher Education Excellence Challenge Grant Program, that will strengthen the higher education experience for hundreds of thousands U.S. students. Developed with Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY), this new program will allow up to 2,000 professors and staff to earn an ACUE certificate through its "Fostering a Culture of Belonging" course. Given typical teaching loads, the course will benefit an estimated 250,000 students annually. The announcement was made last week at the inaugural National Higher Education Teaching Conference co-hosted by CCNY, ECMC Foundation and others.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. & NEW YORK,  May 3, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- First-year students at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) who took at least one course taught by Association of College and University Educators (ACUE)-certified faculty were more likely to return in the next academic year, according to a 2023 study from ACUE and USM. The study also revealed a "dosage effect," showing that the higher the proportion of courses the first-year students took with ACUE-certified faculty, the more likely they were to return for the next school year. Analyzing retention results, it is estimated that USM realized a return of more than 860 percent on its investment in ACUE credentialing for its faculty.
