AMA Houston , the leading educational, career-building, and networking resource for Houstons marketing professionals, announced that the AMA Houston Gives Back grant applications are now being accepted through April 23, 2021.
AMA Houston, the leading educational, career-building, and networking resource for Houston’s marketing professionals, announced that the AMA Houston Gives Back grant applications are now being accepted through April 23, 2021. Each year, AMA Houston distributes a minimum of one-third of the chapter’s net income in the form of AMA Houston Gives Back Grants, which fund marketing efforts for local non-profit organizations.
“Thanks to the passion of the late Penny Todd, AMA Houston past president and marketing visionary, our chapter has supported the efforts of Houston-area non-profits through monetary grants and mentorships with AMA’s talented membership since 2008,” said Emily Rhodes, AMA Houston President. “One thing the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us is that we are all more connected and dependent on each other than we may have realized before. The Gives Back program enables our entire chapter to pay it forward by helping organizations that always put the needs of others first.”
During the global COVID-19 pandemic, non-profits have been instrumental in meeting the basic needs of more people than ever before. Because of the important work they continually provide our community, AMA Houston’s mission to give back through financial grants and mentorships may play an even more significant role in their communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising, and advertising efforts. Past recipients include Bridge Year, The Rose, God’s Garage, Summerhouse, Operations Pets Alive, and many others.
Rebuilding Together, a Houston non-profit, used the AMA Gives Back funding to support the development and delivery of three Safe at Home webinars to educate stakeholders including clients, volunteers, and donors on how to make their homes safer and livable during the pandemic. Topics covered included air quality, fire safety, pest control, accessibility modifications, and fall prevention.
“Rebuilding Together provides free home repairs to low-income seniors, families, and veterans. While we paused our work during the pandemic to develop new safety protocols, our Outreach team innovated by tapping into the expertise of our Programs team. The support of AMA Gives Back helped us to translate our home repair expertise into actionable steps in Safe at Home webinars, available to anyone in the community at the height of the pandemic and beyond,” said Christine Holland, CEO and Executive Director of Rebuilding Together.
