Reza Rofougaran Receives the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2020

Reza’s was honored for pioneering advances in the development and commercialization of analog and mixed signal circuits for modern communication systems, in particular Radio Frequency (RF) design for smartphones and wireless networking.
Reza’s Rofougaran vision and accomplishments have had a major impact on the wireless industry and these systems are shipping in billions of flagship products across nearly every industry and wireless application. Reza holds 868 patents, ranking him as one of the top 30 patent holders in the world.

The Ellis Island Medal of Honor was established in 1986 by the Ellis Island Honors Society and has been officially recognized by both Houses of Congress as one of the nation’s most prestigious awards. This year’s group of honorees and previous honorees include U.S. Presidents, Members of Congress, Nobel Prize winners, and leaders of industry and education, as well as significant figures in literature, news, sports and entertainment.
The Ellis Island Honors Society honors the importance of immigration to America’s prosperity and celebrates the contributions immigrants and their progeny have made to our nation. The medal is presented annually to those who have shown an outstanding commitment to serving the nation either professionally, culturally or civically, among other criteria. The medal will be presented to Reza and other distinguished Americans at the Ellis Island Medals of Honor gala in the Fall, in Ellis Island's Great Hall, where immigrants were once processed.
About Reza Rofougaran
Reza Rofougaran is a leading pioneer, engineering executive, inventor and entrepreneur in the wireless communications industry. He has pioneered research in RF CMOS technology and led the integration of the RF radio with digital processors to enable short range wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, and short-range wireless network, Wi-Fi, and millimeter RF. He was also recognized by UCLA as a pioneering figure in the wireless communications industry and a prolific inventor, awarded the UCLA 2018 Alumnus of the Year. With more than 850 issued patents, he is one of the top patent holders in the world, appearing in 77 publications and receiving 20 awards.
