2022 Florida Gubernatorial General Election: DeSantis and Crist in Virtual Tie According to BUSR
Betting odds can drastically shift based on the outcome of the health crisis in Florida, said James Ross of BUSR.
BUSR, a boutique online gaming company, today released the BUSR/Susquehanna poll of Florida likely voters for the 2022 Florida Gubernatorial general election.
Polling indicates Governor Ron DeSantis and Congressman and former Governor Charlie Crist in a statistical dead heat accounting for margin-of-error, ahead of the Florida Gubernatorial elections on November 8, 2022.
The same poll finds Senator Marco Rubio leading Congresswoman Val Demings by an 11% margin in a general election matchup.
Florida Gubernatorial Odds May Tip Based on COVID
While DeSantis has a three-point lead over Crist, not only is this within the margin-of-error but BUSR’s forecast indicates that DeSantis’ lead will be impacted by the success or failure of his administration’s approach to combatting COVID. The current odds for DeSantis to win against Crist is -138.

DeSantis’ Risky COVID Calculus
A potential hazard for DeSantis is his administration’s approach to handling the coronavirus, particularly as it impacts public schools and businesses. His strategy of curtailing a statewide mask mandate will benefit him if the third wave or delta variant does not worsen in Florida; if COVID and its variants continue to spike and he is unable to contain the damage, then his prospects for reelection in 2022 and his political aspirations for higher office will be negatively impacted.
“Betting odds can drastically shift based on the outcome of the health crisis in Florida,” said James Ross of BUSR. However, if DeSantis’ stratagem of barring mask mandates does not cripple the citizens and economy of Florida and if he can stay above fifty percent approval rating, then “it’s good enough to get reelected in a swing state like Florida,” said Jim Lee, President of Susquehanna Polling and Research.
Rubio is Heavy Favourite - Turmoil in Afghanistan will Benefit Republicans in 2022
Marco Rubio is heavily favoured to win the 2022 Senate race with a current lead of eleven points over Val Demings. “Good polling for him suggests he’s been smart about how to keep his base secure,” said Jim Lee of Susquehanna Polling and Research.

“Rubio has this race, the question will be by how much he wins, not if,” added James Ross of BUSR. “The fallout and turmoil from the United States’ exit from Afghanistan will absolutely be talking point and strategy employed by the Republican party come 2022 to gin up their base and, more importantly, to entice the independent voter to their side,” said Ross.
