Nursa Leverages $80M Series B to Expand C-Suite and Address Rising Healthcare Staffing Shortage and Financial Crisis

With the addition of experienced Chief Product, Revenue and Technology Officers, Nursa is diversifying its expertise in order to further address the industry’s rising financial and nursing deficits.

The American Hospital Association called the hospital workforce shortage a “national emergency,” projecting the overall shortage of nurses to reach 1.1 million by the end of the year. Yet, it’s more than an operational and quality care problem; it’s also a massive financial concern. For every 1% decrease in turnover, the average hospital saves $262,300 annually. With federal incentives gone, solving nurse staffing shortages without additional financial loss is nearly impossible. The demand for care continues to grow while help at the bedside remains in short supply. System capacity is available, but inaccessible due to a mismatch of how resources are utilized. The most recent addition to the Nursa executive team, Duke brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in sales, account management and business development within the healthcare industry. A former registered nurse, she has a deep understanding of frontline challenges which informs her role leading team alignment for optimized growth.
• Melissa Matross, Chief Product Officer. With nearly 20 years of leadership experience in product management and user experience across enterprise and consumer platforms, Matross will oversee the product and design organization at Nursa. Matross most recently served as the SVP of Product Management on Service Cloud and SVP of Product Design and User Experience for the Sales Cloud portfolio at Salesforce. Earlier, she held senior product and user experience leadership roles at Rodan + Fields and Hotwire (Expedia).
• Brad Taylor, Chief Technology Officer. Taylor is an engineering executive who has led teams across a variety of industries, including healthcare, accessibility, gaming, and payments throughout his 20-year career. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer at leading virtual primary care clinic, Galileo Health, and previously led multiple engineering verticals at Marqeta through their IPO. Early in his career, Taylor led the development of the world's first open-source electronic medical record, OpenVista CIS, while at Medsphere.
