On 22 January, the BUDG committee will, in two separate debates, exchange views with Mr Zdravko Mari, Finance Minister of Croatia, and Mr Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources.
The first debate (morning) will cover the priorities of the Croatian Presidency of the Council, which took over on 1 January 2020, with a particular focus on the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
The second debate (afternoon) will offer an opportunity to quiz Mr Hahn on the Von der Leyen Commission's priorities and the way it intends to cooperate with the Parliament in the budgetary field.
In his confirmation hearing on 3 October 2019, Mr Hahn committed to contributing to a timely agreement on an ambitious framework for the next MFF, including the new Just Transition Fund and a reform of the EU's Own Resources system, and to improving the process of negotiating the annual budget.
