beIN SPORTS announced that starting today, April 9th, 2019,
the network will be offering Portuguese commentary as a second audio
program (SAP) option on their English-language broadcast channel for
select Copa Libertadores matches featuring Brazilian teams in both the
United States and Canada. Upcoming matches to feature Portuguese audio
include this week’s coverage of games involving Brazilian teams
Athletico Paranaense, Cruzeiro, Palmeiras and Flamengo.
“This is an exciting and landmark announcement, as before beIN SPORTS
only Spanish-language broadcast of the matches were available to fans.
We are now surpassing this not only in English, but also in Portuguese
given the importance of the market and our avid fans,” said Antonio
Briceño, Deputy Managing Director, beIN SPORTS USA and Canada. “We hope
that with the addition of the Portuguese audio as the SAP option,
Portuguese-speaking fans can enjoy beIN SPORTS’s comprehensive coverage
of the prestigious tournament with in-language commentary.”
beIN SPORTS’s coverage of Copa Libertadores is part of a multi-year
media rights agreement with the South American Football Confederation
(CONMEBOL) making beIN SPORTS the exclusive broadcast partner for the
Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana soccer tournaments in both the
United States and Canada until 2022. While many tournaments are
fragmented across various networks, beIN SPORTS’s coverage of the full
Copa Libertadores is a testament to the network’s commitment to acquire
rights and provide multilingual coverage exclusively for the benefit of
the fans who can tune in to beIN SPORTS as a one stop shop for the most
comprehensive coverage in English, Spanish and now Portuguese.
beIN SPORTS can be found nationwide in the U.S. via traditional and OTT
providers including Charter,
Dish,
SlingTV,
Verizon
Fios, Cox,
