Missouri American Water has begun work on a project to replace
approximately 4,000 feet of sewer main in Arnold.
The project primarily runs through backyard easements at Shady Court and
heads in a northeast direction before crossing Shady Drive and
eventually turning to the southeast near Pheasant Run Drive and ending
near the Meramec River. The overall project will cost approximately $2.7
million.
The company will install PVC, Hobas within a steel casing pipe, and
ductile iron sewer main, in sizes ranging from 15 inches through 24
inches on the interceptor and additional 8-inch PVC and ductile iron
pipe for collector sewers.
“This has been a known problem area,” said Mark Radake, senior project
manager for Missouri American Water. “Approximately half of this new
interceptor is being installed as new run to correct slope issues that
couldn’t be solved if the previous alignment had been followed. Many
residents in this area have had ongoing sewer issues for decades. This
improvement in the system will free up operational personnel so they can
focus on other issues and we can better serve Arnold.”
Crews will work weekdays and Saturdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Traffic
restrictions may be required on side streets including Shady Dr. and
Pheasant Run Dr. during construction. Motorists are urged to exercise
caution when traveling through work zones. During construction,
customers might experience temporary sewer service interruptions. For
more information, contact Missouri American Water at 866-430-0820.
The company expects to complete new main installation, and connecting
customers’ service lines to the new main, by October 2019, weather
permitting. Final paving restoration is expected to be completed by
November 2019.
