Hipcamp and REI Co-op #SaveASpot Sweepstakes Puts Experience First, Blurring Lines Between Outdoor Hospitality and Retail

As Americans continue to flock to the outdoors in record numbers, Hipcamp and REI Co-op today announced the #SaveASpot sweepstakes, a summer-long campaign that will award 10 immersive, outdoor experiences to campers from across the nation.

Would-be campers can enter to win a getaway until Aug. 15, 2022, and winners will be selected at random.

Winners will receive an overnight stay at one of five Hipcamp sites that have been fully outfitted with REI-curated gear, available for purchase at the scan of an onsite QR code. They’ll also be able to share the experience with a friend or family member.

REI and Hipcamp conducted extensive user research before determining which gear to include at #SaveASpot Hipcamp sites. Based on that research, each site will include basecamp essentials for sleeping, cooking, relaxing, and exploring. Because the majority of campers named stargazing and hiking as a few of their favorite camping activities, winners of the giveaway can look forward to onsite telescopes, stargazing guides, and a quick-reference book for mushroom foraging.

Additionally, every Hipcamp site will include:

• An entire cookware system from Coleman, OXO, Barebones, Hydroflask, and Stanley
• A sleeping system featuring the ENO DoubleNest Hammock and SnowPeak tarp
