Committee examines Global Britain and South America
Academics and experts questioned on key recent developments
- 2018 was a year of change in South America, with new leaders elected in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Paraguay.
- Against this background, the crisis in Venezuela has deepened, the Macri presidency in Argentina has attempted to tackle severe economic problems and corruption scandals have rocked countries across the continent.
- In this first session of the Committees inquiry, Members will question academics and experts on key recent developments in politics and society throughout South America.
- The session will be split into two sub-regional panels; the first covering the Andean states (including Colombia and Venezuela) and the second covering the Cone (including Brazil and Argentina).
