NEWARK, Calif., July 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A study abstract published at the annual Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography (SCCT) congress last week indicated an excellent correlation of extracellular volume fraction (ECV) computed tomography (CT) with ECV cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and had significant methodological implications. The pilot research study from Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital utilized a commonly available prospective ECG-gated acquisition, which provided reliable imaging quality for ECV-CT analysis using Ziosoft, one of the only commercially available ECV-CT solutions.

Key Points:
  • This technology helped enable ECV-CT assessment making it a viable, non-invasive approach for non-invasive assessment of myocardial fibrosis and potential pre-screening of Cardiac Amyloidosis during a pre-planning TAVR or post-TAVR procedure."
  • CT TAVR planning also can evaluate ECV to indicate the presence of concomitant cardiac amyloidosis, which can be as frequent as 12-15% in this elderly population.
  • "With the U.S. performing more than 73,000 TAVR procedures annually, the findings of this study could be significant," said Rajeev Taitriya, vice president of marketing and business development for Ziosoft.
  • We are pleased to be a part of this and many other studies showing the power of Ziosoft technology."

Diagnosis of CAD is typically based on coronary angiography, an imaging process used to detect restricted blood flow in the hearts major arteries.

Key Points:
  • Diagnosis of CAD is typically based on coronary angiography, an imaging process used to detect restricted blood flow in the hearts major arteries.
  • Using SeqLLs tSMS platform, our team was able to sequence millions of RNA strands per patient at single molecule resolution.
  • This allowed us to reproducibly identify specific RNA transcripts that were altered in patients with coronary disease, Dr. McCaffrey said.
  • This study represents another step toward providing improved, non-invasive diagnostic options to those suffering from coronary artery disease.
