LETART, W.Va., July 12, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Felman Production, a Letart, WV-based metallurgy manufacturing company led by Mordechai Korf and Uriel Laber employing dozens of West Virginia workers, announced today it has reached a labor agreement with the United Steelworkers (USW) and its affiliated Local Union No. 5171, ensuring dozens good-paying union jobs to West Virginians and bolstering the region's manufacturing footprint.

After the federal government passed legislation to create a federal statutory holiday on September 30, known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Loblaw Companies announced to the Union that it would not recognize the day as a paid holiday.

Arbitrator Jesin determined that the employer should have recognized the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation due to the Unions collective agreement and ordered Loblaw Companies to compensate all affected employees.
As a national employer, Loblaw Companies should have done the right thing from the start.
