In creating its list, SmartAsset considered all U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-registered investment advisers whose principal place of business is in Miami, Florida as of July 21, 2020. SmartAsset looked specifically at SEC-registered investment advisers because these firms have a fiduciary duty to their clients. From there, SmartAsset eliminated any firms that had legal or disciplinary issues, so that the final list includes only firms without reported legal or disciplinary records. SmartAsset also eliminated any firms that do not manage individual accounts or offer financial planning.3 The Top Financial Advisors are the top nine remaining investment advisers based on assets under management.
