AALAS Announces the First Higher Ed International Flipped Learning Award Honorees
Mazur introduced peer instruction at Harvard and is widely considered the father of Flipped Learning in higher education.
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Academy of Active Learning Arts and Sciences announced the first recipients of the International Flipped Learning Awards. The honors recognize individuals and organizations who are doing trailblazing and innovative work in Flipped Learning, driving adoption, or modeling high standards of global best practices. The first higher education award was presented to Eric Mazur, the Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics and Dean of Applied Physics at Harvard University. Mazur is a member of the Faculty of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mazur introduced peer instruction at Harvard and is widely considered the father of Flipped Learning in higher education.

When I first started flipping my classroom 28 years ago, I would never have imagined being the recipient of this marvelous award. The second higher education honor will be presented to the University of Adelaide in Australia for their pioneering work with Flipped Learning in the School of Dentistry. The award will be presented at RESCON Australia on September 15th 2018.
