In 2019, new passenger car sales in Russia came up to 1.63 million vehicles, which is 2.3% less than a year ago. LADA remains the market leader in Russia with 351.3 thousand vehicles sold, which is 0.8% more than in 2018. South Korean KIA and Hyundai sold 225.9 thousand vehicles (-0.7%) and 176.6 thousand vehicles (-0.3%) respectively.
According to the publisher's estimation, last year, the average price of a passenger car in the Russian market came up to 1.56 million rubles.
During the year, companies imported 248.2 thousand passenger cars, that is 6.1% more than a year ago. German Mercedes-Benz regained its leadership (40.6 thousand vehicles), having increased its import by 28%. The leader of 2018, Japanese Toyota, move down to the second place with 39.4 thousand vehicles imported, that is 14.9% less than a year ago. It is followed by two premium brands - Japanese Lexus (22.1 thousand vehicles; +3.4%) and German BMW (21.3 thousand vehicles; +43,3%).
