It’s been widely reported* in the last week that tenants in dozens of apartment buildings across Los Angeles have been given 60-day notices to vacate their homes before the law goes into effect in January. This surge in mass evictions, if unchecked, could amount to the potential displacement of thousands of working-class Californians. Political leaders in Los Angeles and across the region must act to prevent this injustice.

That is why tenants facing eviction, as well as the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), Democratic Socialists of America - Los Angeles (DSA-LA), the East LA Community Corporation (ELACC), Eviction Defense Network (EDN), Housing Is a Human Right, Inquilinos Unidos, Los Angeles Community Action Network (LA-CAN), Los Angeles Center for Community Law & Action (LACCLA), Los Angeles Tenants Union (LATU), Strategic Action for a Just Economy (SAJE) and others are mobilizing tomorrow to ​call on City Council to immediately put a halt to all retaliatory evictions​ ​and 60-day notices until AB 1482 becomes law.
