According to the 2019 Home Healthcare Outlook Report from Home Healthcare News (HHCN)*, in the coming year providers will continue to prepare for the biggest change to home health care payments since the early 2000s — the Patient-Driven Groupings payment model. In a recent survey of 680 participants in the market, most providers reported they are at the beginning stages of making the new payment structure a reality, yet they remain challenged by staffing-related issues, along with a need to evaluate and adopt technology to provide more efficient care in this new era of reimbursement models.

The survey further indicates regulatory compliance is a top driver of change when it comes to technology platforms (53%), followed by payment and reimbursement challenges (51%), and the need to reduce operating costs with new technology platforms(42%).
