Canadian Paralympic Committee statement on Minister Duncan's safe sport announcement

OTTAWA, March 13, 2019 /CNW/ - The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Sport, announced today the introduction of an independent investigation unit and national toll-free confidential hotline to promote safe sport and better protect athletes and children in sport.

Statement from Marc-André Fabien, President, Canadian Paralympic Committee:

"The Canadian Paralympic Committee commends Minister Duncan for her work to provide safeguards for athletes and participants at all levels of sport and we stand behind these new measures. These new processes are critical towards combatting harassment, abuse, and discrimination in sport.

Safe sport should be the absolute standard, and the top priority for the sport community.
