KBRA Assigns Preliminary Ratings to RATE Mortgage Trust 2022-J1 (RATE 2022-J1)

KBRA assigns preliminary ratings to 82 classes of mortgage pass-through certificates from RATE Mortgage Trust 2022-J1 (RATE 2022-J1). RATE 2022-J1 comprises 660 residential mortgages with an aggregate principal balance of $632.1 million as of the January 1, 2022 cut-off date. The underlying collateral consists entirely of 30-year fixed-rate mortgages (FRMs), all of which are categorized as QM Safe Harbor loans.

KBRA’s rating approach incorporated loan-level analysis of the mortgage pool through its RMBS Credit Model, an examination of the results from third-party loan file due diligence, cash flow modeling analysis of the transaction’s payment structure, reviews of key transaction parties and an assessment of the transaction’s legal structure and documentation.
