LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Grisafe Architecture, a residential and commercial architecture firm in Long Beach, California, announced recently that the company's owner and lead architect, Mark Grisafe, has been named to the Long Beach Cultural Heritage Commission. The Cultural Heritage Commission is tasked with protecting and enhancing the historic districts, buildings, structures, and other pieces within the City of Long Beach that are significant reminders of the past and important and irreplaceable assets to the City. Members of the Commission are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Long Beach and meet once per month to discuss changes to historic buildings and make recommendations to the City regarding historical designations. There are currently seven members of the Commission, who can serve up to four two-year terms.

As the owner of an architecture firm in a city like Long Beach that has its share of historic homes and buildings, Grisafe was quite familiar with the Cultural Heritage Commission prior to being appointed as a member. Over the past 19 years, his firm has created architectural designs for the owners of historic homes wishing to complete renovations. Those designs were then sent to the Cultural Heritage Commission for review and approval. Grisafe is grateful for the opportunity to now be a part of the Commission himself—to be able to experience both sides of the approval process—and sees his role on the Commission as one that will benefit his clients.

Grisafe also sees his appointment to the Cultural Heritage Commission as a way to give back to the community in which he lives and works. Along with his work at Grisafe Architecture, Grisafe has served as an adjunct professor at Mt. San Antonio College teaching interior design courses, and volunteers with several local nonprofit organizations, including Scouts BSA and the Alpert Jewish Community Center of Long Beach.
