Marijuana Business Conference, CWCBExpo, Discusses the Future of Cannabis Laws Across the 50 States in 2018
Marijuana trade show company, CWCBExpo, will hold their next marijuana business conference in New York City May 30 - June 2.
PARAMUS, N.J., May 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Learn about the legislative climate surrounding cannabis and what to expect this year. Marijuana trade show company, CWCBExpo, will hold their next marijuana business conference in New York City May 30 - June 2. ย
Recent legislative discussions may place the cannabis industry in a bit of an unknown state moving further into 2018, but with attitudes becoming more lenient overall, there's still a lot to look forward to in terms of the legislative changes that are likely to affect the cannabis industry.
- Legal marijuana lounges. Marijuana lounges will probably be legally allowed to open and operate this year, though not in every state. The states most likely to have open legal marijuana lounges by the end of the year are Nevada, California, Massachusetts, and Colorado. However, while the lounges will offer a place to enjoy the product socially, certain stipulations are likely to be in place. For example, it's possible that customers will need to bring their own product and agree to not drive themselves home. Whether or not customers will be allowed to smoke the product remains to be seen.
- Smoke-friendly social spaces. Many of the lounges that are likely to open won't be able to allow patrons to smoke marijuana. However, spaces devoted to smoking the product are probably around the corner. Unlike spas and bakeries where cannabis will be infused into edibles, products, and beauty treatments when smoke-friendly spaces are opened, customers will be able to smoke marijuana in those spaces.
- Recreational marijuana use. California began allowing the sale of recreational marijuana in January of this year. Other states are likely to follow suit. Currently, medical marijuana is legal in 29 states and a small proportion of those states allow recreational use.
- Eastern states poised for a trifecta. New Jersey is improving their medical marijuana program, and some believe the state will legalize recreational use soon. If New Jersey and Connecticut legalize recreational marijuana use, then there will be more pressure on New York to do the same in the coming years.
